The little engine that couldn't.........

It is a real shame to find out things are not what they should be. Especially when it is your first line piece.

Recently we had our pumps tested for their first annual in some time, the previous Chief either didn't know they needed to be done or just didn't have it done. Either way, we found out some interesting facts.

Our first line truck had a bad mechanical seal and failed. Our Second line passed, but it is a rescue engine, not a triple combination/Class "A". Our Reserve piece, that the former Chief had declared "unfit" because of the pump being "bad" passed in excess of the rating on the data plate................

So, our recently purchased (By the previous Chief) USED first line piece has to be fixed, our second line can't respond alone because there are no ladders, and our reserve that was OOS by the last Chief is ready to go!

So, now our first piece is in the shop, and our until-recently-out-of-service piece is now first due until it is fixed.

Needless to say, we are looking at what else may have slipped through the cracks....
